Concept and design by Radhika Unnikrishnan & Maria Barreix

As a response to the Jane Jacobs' reading and our observations on site, we decided to focus our efforts on revitalizing Bowling Green Park. We sought to create an experience that invited tourists, residents and those employed locally into the under-used park. As a result, we developed a smart phone app called, SoundStory. The app offers a new audio experience in the form of narrative, sounds and languages that mark historical moments in lower Manhattan's history. Users listen to audio clips that are designed to create a subtle soundscape and allow the listener to experience the space from a new perspective. The audio was meant to be used as a guide to move the user from the more popular Battery Park into Bowling Green Park.
